A Rest Day – RunLog June 4, 2020

After a 18 day running streak, the body told me in no uncertain terms that I needed a rest day. Not an easy 3.0 mile run or anything like that, but a true shut-it-down no running day.

Well at least as much as a 20,000 plus step day and clearing brush is considered a rest day. đŸ™‚

This morning after walking Bennie I just felt too worn down to do more than think about what kind of run I was going to do. The more I thought about it, I am both physically and mentally at the point where the needle is below empty.

There is not a lot of doubt about needing the day off from running and letting the batteries recharge a little.

Which also gave me a chance to come to terms with a few things.

All the things in the news, online or elsewhere that I have been giving so much of my time, attention and emotional energy to, are things that I do not have any control over.

The only thing that I can control is how I respond to what is going on around me and support or do what I believe is the right thing to do.

The weariness that I feel, I do believe is being felt across America and is not something that can be wished away by burying our heads in the sand. It is going to be a long and difficult summer and fall for many of us, I have a feeling.
